Title: Snow Cat Operator
Reports To
Grooming Operations Manager
Summary
This position is a full-time seasonal position with the White Wolf Snowmobile Club located in Labrador West, responsible for grooming the snowmobile trails using tracked snow cats. The groomer operator will be able to operate all the grooming equipment in a safe and effective manner. Some training will be provided. The operator will aim to consistently produce a high-quality groomed trail surface.
This position is a salary position based on 50 hours a week
Job Duties
Perform grooming in a reasonable and timely manner when required both day and night.
Follow all policies and procedures for safe grooming including in severe weather conditions and on varied terrain
Assist in maintaining and repairing the equipment whenever required.
Perform inspections of snow cat machines daily and report anything may indicate a mechanical issue.
Maintain good communications using various communication equipment .ie; phone, in-reaches and satellite phones.
Keep machines and workspaces clean and tidy
Ensuring snow and ice conditions are safe to operate on
Ensure all necessary trail signage is in place and placing signs when possible
Other duties as required
Requirements
Effective communicator and problem solver
Must work effectively with minimal supervision
Positive and proactive approach to teamwork and working with others
Capable of working outside in all types of weather
Able to react quickly and remain calm under pressure
Capable of performing physical and manual duties
Snow cat or heavy machinery operation experience preferred
Valid driver's license and own reliable transportation required
Must be able to lift up to 50 to 75lbs
Must be over 18 years of age
Weekend, holiday, and overnight shifts are required.
Must be able to start work around the end of October
Overtime as required
Working Conditions
Manual dexterity required to use heavy equipment and hand tools.
Extended periods of sitting
Reaching, kneeling, bending, twisting, pulling, pushing, and lifting
Working alone at night
Outdoor work in extreme winter conditions.
Job Type: Full Time seasonal
Contract length: 6 months normally starting in October
Salary: Depending on experience
Licence/Certification: Class 05 licence with a Class 08 endorsement (required)
Shift availability: Overnight Shift (required)
